Welcome to the first post on my new blog platform! I am going to try and commit myself to writing more often, especially now that I am studying art more. Anywho, I went to a figure drawing session the other day, and I brought my charcoal with me. Now, I usually bring charcoal with me when I am packing drawing supplies, however I never use it because of how messy it is, and I've never been truly comfortable using this medium. So I took a plunge and drew one of the poses in charcoal and I loved how it turned out (the drawing below on the left side), sparking my inspiration for more charcoal.
Now, just the one pose was from that figure drawing session. I have gone to a few of these sessions, but I am now hooked on drawing the human form in charcoal. I should mention that most of these are just 15 minute sketches, charcoal is SO fast to work with once you get a rhythm down. I do have to thank Croquis Cafe on youtube for the amazing figure session videos that they put up. It's just like being at a real session! Anyways, I have committed to doing at least 20 of these sketches by the end of April and I am making it a #bodypositivity theme. Lets see how this journey goes, I see improvement already!
